Technical Documentation Specialist 

Richmond, Virginia - Contract Role



Qualifications:




  • Demonstrated competency in verbal and written communications and interpersonal understanding.

Responsibilities :




  • Writes documentation for application programs, systems, processes and procedures.

  • Documents established processes after interviewing process users.

  • Establishes new processes and procedures based on observation and input.

  • Maintains and keeps track of software tools and computer equipment, recommending various tools or equipment depending on the requirements.

  • Develops user manuals and on-line help.

  • Requires guidance in complex problem areas.



Job Duties:




  • Coordinate vendor activities in support of program objectives, including but not limited to: logistically setting up discovery workshops, configuration workshops, and training sessions.

  • Coordinate team activities and working group meetings, in support of program objectives.

  • Update program documentation, by promptly updating shared documents on websites, and hard-copies carried by program stakeholders.

  • Coordinate the proper display of information in work directories, and on web pages.

  • Use Microsoft Office Programs to create spreadsheets, develop written documents, and develop graphics for presentations using PowerPoint.

  • Work with program participants (internal and external) to help maintain project schedules using visual display tools, such as Microsoft Project.

  • Assist work leader(s) in interfacing with partner groups.

  • Coordinate discussions with IT for the development of a program website.

  • Provide general support to all design technology and innovation projects in areas such as: organization of electronic files and interface correspondence with internal and external partners; documenting work plans and results; time management (team scheduling); technical oversight (laptop orders, and hardware deployments), researching professional processes and options, problem-solving, and planning.
