Analyst- Development Systems-Senior

Richmond, Virginia- Contract Opportunity

TECHEAD is seeking a Senior Analyst to join our team. As a Senior Analyst your tasks will include but may not be limited to:

Responsibilities: This position will support a small project team driving continuous improvement and outcomes by establishing clear metadata standards and leveraging tools to improve overall metadata quality. They will specifically be working on the development and completion of a comprehensive data dictionary.

Ensures that new and existing technical solutions satisfy business needs. Works with stakeholders to elicit, analyze, document, communicate, and validate requirements for business applications. Understands business needs and opportunities to contextually inform requirements and recommended solutions, enabling the business area to achieve its goals.

Other key responsibilities include:

  • Work closely with business stakeholders as well as potential users to capture, analyze, and define metadata requirements for the creation of the data dictionary

  • Understand data lineage and work with data owners to document metadata and business definitions as well as resolve redundancies

  • Stay informed of the ways the organization uses its data

  • Perform quality control of processes and products produced

  • Evaluate existing data models and databases for variances and discrepancies

  • Perform data analysis to identify the cause of metadata issues and work with the broader team to resolve these issues

  • Develop a solid understanding of the various data sets

  • Assist in laying out the overall data design solutions

  • Prepares documentation of complex requirements by analyzing, synthesizing, and compiling raw requirements information into forms which ensure understanding by the business and technical staffs; provides the Project Team with a clear design goal by defining characteristics of an acceptable solution to a business problem

  • Provides input to a comprehensive plan which identifies how and when requirements information is exchanged among all levels of project participants; presents, communicates, verifies and gains signatory approval of the requirements from Stakeholders and implementers of the solution

  • Manages complex requirements conflicts, negotiates consensus and maintains an issue log to ensure all impacted parties are informed of conflict resolution

  • Ensures that the application delivered by the development team meets and maintains business requirements

  • Promote and drive creation and adoption of metadata standards and best practices

  • Partner with data governance and IT to establish processes to ensure the accuracy, validity, and reusability of metadata

  • Participate in and/or leads discussions with cross-functional teams

  • Maintain integrity and security of data???????


  • Bachelors degree in related technical/business field and at least four (4+) years of experience managing metadata

  • Experience working with Federal Government clients

  • An ability to work independently and within a team environment

  • Experience managing across multiple stakeholders and cross-functional teams

  • Experience in assessing and designing business processes, data standards and policy definition to support a metadata management effort

  • Experience working with or as a member of a data governance committee or council

  • Analytical and problem solving skills to assess data issues and identify creative solutions across, people, process, and technology

  • Foundational knowledge of data governance, data stewardship, and data quality best practices

  • Experience in writing business definitions of tables, entities, files, columns, attributes and fields

  • Experience working with metadata from the perspective of the end-user as well as a foundation in information organization and access

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both orally and in writing

  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate with a diverse group of both business and technical resources

  • Strong analytical skills

  • Knowledge of data quality concepts

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills sufficient to effectively convey complex information and concepts to stakeholders of widely varying technical aptitude

  • Experience in master data management is a plus

  • MS Office - Word, Excel and PowerPoint skills required

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelors degree in related technical/business field and at least four (4+) years of experience managing metadata

Other/Physical Requirements:

  • Position requires continuous visual concentration and manual dexterity to operate PC

  • Minor lifting and carrying, not likely to exceed ten pounds

  • May require extended work hours and/or schedule flexibility as unexpected situations and/or workflow dictate

  • Travel Requirements: Less than 25%
